Acknowledgments
The number of individuals who have helped me with and throughout this fellowship are innumerable. Thank you all for your support, love, and candor. Though I wish I had enough space to thank everyone, here are a few shout-outs and thank yous to some especially wonderful people:
Mr. Keegan, thank you so much for your generosity in funding this fellowship. I am so grateful that you see the value of international experience in the development of leaders. Because of your financial commitment, I am able to pursue an experience that I thought was totally impossible. Your investment will go far in my future career of public service, as authentically serving others requires cultural humility and curiosity.
2016 Selection Committee and Keegan Alumni, I am so grateful for your selection of me as the recipient of this fellowship. I am honored that you have faith in me to represent Vanderbilt and the fellowship well. It has been encouraging to see you all interact, because it shows me that this fellowship does not end here; the Keegan Alumni are the coolest, most traveled family I have ever met. A specific thanks to Dave Albright and Kelly Moore for the copious amounts of support and Indian food :)
God, you have been the most important part of my life since I made the decision to pursue a relationship with you for myself. Since then, you have taken me on an incredible journey that I wouldn't change for anything. You have told me that this fellowship is the next step in a calling over my entire life, and that gives me so much peace as I step into the unknown. I am so thankful for your guidance and your presence throughout my entire life, but especially during this time.
Mom and Dad, thank you for accepting my decision to do something this year that takes me far away from you. You have always encouraged me to pursue whatever I feel is my calling in life (even back when that was changing on a monthly basis... not that they still aren't now), and I could not begin this adventure with such confidence if it weren't for you. You raised me to be the type of person who is ready for a challenge, and I am grateful for your support during this current one.
My friends, you know who you are. ;) I love you so much, and have been incredibly blessed to have your support in my life. This year could turn out many different ways, but I know that I will always have your steadfast love and support. Sorry in advance for the early morning calls (time zones will get ya!). :D
